The Weekly VOTER masthead

Welcome to the LWV Austin Area's Weekly VOTER

Our goal is to share timely resources, announcements, and actions to help you empower voters and defend democracy right here in Central Texas.

Contribute to July 4 Flood Disaster Relief

LWVAA is partnering with Hands Off Central TX to raise funds and collect supplies for Central Texans affected by the July 4 flood. Supplies will be distributed based on requests received from the counties affected by the floods, with an emphasis on needs not being filled by churches, the National Guard, and local government. Drop off cleaning and hygiene supplies from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. on Monday, July 7, at Noble Joe Coffee Co., 1620 E. Riverside Drive, Austin, 78741. Learn more and find a link to donate on the Hands Off Central Texas website.

Summer Events & Volunteer Opportunities

Get out and have some fun this summer! Check out the Hillside Concert Series, Austin’s longest-running free concert series, on Tuesdays in July. LWVAA will be there every week, registering voters. Swing by TexPop ATX at 1516 South Lamar for Airwaves & Outreach, a community nonprofit fair, where we'll be registering voters and sharing our mission with the public.

Check our Event Calendar to find voter registration events, and mark your calendar for two Good Trouble Lives On events on July 17.

Two Ways to Support Democracy at Your Events!
  • Is an organization or business you know hosting a concert, picnic, panel, or party? Help your community get vote-ready! Request a nonpartisan LWVAA voter registration table. 📩 Email tablingrequest@lwvaustin.org.
  • Contact LWVAA co-president Debbi Voss to ask the League to co-host or to provide a speaker for an event.
How is Government Supposed to Work?

LWVUS News

Give a big shout-out to LWVAA members who participated in the local consensus meeting for the nationwide Federal Judiciary Study! Their work contributed to the development of a new LWVUS position on the Federal Judiciary. It's a critical time for this important branch of our government, and this position will enable the League to advocate and take action.
