Austin area students in Elementary (grades 1- 5), Middle (grades 6-8), and High School (grades 9-12)

Original written work or visual artwork, illustrating “democracy and community” (for instance: What does this concept mean to you? Is there an example of it that has inspired you? What do you hope it looks like in the future?). Written pieces may be in the form of an essay, poem, or fictional work of no more than 500 words. Visual artwork may be in the form of a painting, drawing, screen print, or photograph with a size limit of 24 in x 36 in.

A $125 Amazon gift card will be awarded to the winner of each category within each age division (six total prizes). Winning submissions may be published on the LWVAustin.org website, shared on our social media accounts and in promotional materials, and presented at our annual Friends & Family Spring Festival.

• Email your submission by midnight on March 1, 2024 to picturethis@lwvaustin.org.
• Visual artwork may be photographed or scanned and sent as a jpg, png or pdf file.
