Mayor and City Council Candidate Forums

The City of Austin and the City’s Ethics Review Commission provide live candidate forums for the November 2024 City Council and Mayoral elections. The League of Women Voters Austin Area moderate the forums. Individuals can attend in person or watch online.

Submit Questions

To suggest a question for a candidate email  forum@lwvaustin.org. Topics requested repeatedly will be considered for inclusion. Questions may be Council District-specific, citywide, or county wide depending on the forum.

The recording of candidate forums are owned by the League of Women Voters Austin Area and may not be used for any purpose without the explicit written permission of the League of Women Voters Austin Area except by news media or for nonpartisan voter education. In conjunction with the City of Austin Ethics Commission, the League of Women Voters Austin Area moderated a forum for the candidates running for City Council District 4.

Candidate Forums and Debates

The League of Women Voters mission is empowering voters and defending democracy. LWV Austin Area empowers voters with the information they need to vote in elections by moderating many candidate debates and forums.  We are committed to providing fair, nonpartisan candidate forums that are open to the general public.

During the election season, LWV Austin Area frequently hosts candidate forums featuring candidates on local ballot races in the Austin area (County Commissioners, AISD, City Council, etc.).

We welcome the opportunity to work with community organizations as cosponsors. To maintain the integrity of our candidate forums, the League adheres to the LWV' candidate forum policy, which includes a specific format and maintains strict nonpartisanship.
